Since its founding in 1979, MMIS Inc. has supplied the Canadian market with European-made artificial casings from the world renowned Walsroder line (now part of Viskase Companies, Inc.). Our Canadian converting department cut and pre-tied millions of casings since then. We still represent Viskase’s line of European made casings in Canada to this day. As MMIS grew, the well-known Brifisol food phosphates were added to our product line in 1983. In the early 1980’s we also began selling food processing equipment from Europe, such as smokehouses, tumblers (the first vacuum tumblers in Canada), clipping machines and many more lines over the years. Hundreds of quality machines supplied by MMIS are hard at work every day across the country.

MMIS Mondo Ltd. began blending spice formulas in 2001. The company was SQF certified in 2017. Safe Quality Food is setting the standard globally for food safety. MMIS Mondo is constantly striving to meet the changing needs of the industry. In 2018 a full clean label line (Mondo Pure) was developed and launched. In the following years other certifications such as Organic and Kosher were added, allowing for additional new customers and markets to be reached. After 30 years in Aurora, ON, MMIS moved in 2020 to Barrie, ON. This new and greatly expanded facility was designed to meet the strictest sanitation and food safety regulations and to substantially reduce our carbon footprint

The sons of Chairman Bert Zetzl are now co-owners and running the day to day operations of the companies. Alexander graduated with a Ph.D. in Food Chemistry from the University of Guelph and worked for ICL in Europe before joining MMIS in 2015. Christopher Zetzl, Hon.B.Comm., worked for several years for one of Canada’s largest banks in various capacities before joining MMIS in 2017.
We look forward to carrying on the family tradition of serving the North American industry for many more years.
